What You'll Do

Are you a tax professional looking to take the next step in your career? At Cohen & Co, we believe in putting people first and fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and excellence. As a Senior on our Registered Investment Company (RIC) Tax team, you’ll prepare and review complex RIC tax returns, work directly with clients, and help mentor junior staff while contributing to innovative, high-quality tax solutions.

Tax Strategy & Compliance

  • Prepare complex RIC tax returns and perform detailed reviews of work papers, allocations, and tax filings.

  • Assist with materials and research for consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities.

  • Review tax returns prepared by staff and provide recommendations to improve accuracy and identify tax savings opportunities.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts while supporting client needs.

Client Experience

  • Work directly with clients to gather information and complete tax returns.

  • Communicate effectively to ensure a smooth compliance process and deliver high-quality service.

  • Stay informed of tax law changes and industry trends to better support client planning and compliance efforts.

Team Leadership

  • Collaborate with engagement teams to deliver timely and accurate services.

  • Coach interns and entry-level staff, sharing knowledge and practical guidance.

  • Contribute to building a positive, inclusive team environment that values diverse perspectives.

  • Take initiative in fast-paced, dynamic situations, supporting team success and continuous improvement.

Who You Are

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • CPA license or actively pursuing CPA qualifications.

  • 2+ years of progressive experience at a public accounting firm.

  • Basic understanding of challenges related to RIC tax returns.

  • Experience preparing tax returns for more complex RICs.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership potential with enthusiasm for mentoring and developing team members.

  • Excellent time and project management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a client-service mindset.

  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, etc.

  • Strong understanding of CCH Axcess.

  • Initiative-driven, curious, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment that challenges the status quo.

Estimated Salary Range:  $70,000-125,000
